REVIEW OF MOVIE-TERMINATOR PART-1

 

 

    Directed by James Cameron and released in 1984, The Terminator is a landmark sci-fi action thriller about time travel, artificial intelligence, and survival. The is very much relevant today also.



 

The Premise: War in 2029

    In the post-apocalyptic year of 2029, a artificial intelligence defence network named Skynet has achieved self-awareness, initiated a nuclear holocaust, and waged war against humanity using autonomous war machines.

    A human resistance leader, John Connor, turns the tide of the war and leads humanity to the brink of victory. In a desperate bid to undo Connor's rise, Skynet sends a killer cybernetic organism—a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 (T-800 Terminator)—back in time via time displacement to 1984 Los Angeles. Its mission: assassinate John's mother, Sarah Connor, before he is ever born.

    Learning of Skynet's plan, John Connor sends back a human soldier, Kyle Reese, to protect Sarah at all costs.

The Pursuit: 1984 Los Angeles

    Both time travelers arrive naked in 1984. The T-800—an endoskeleton covered in living human tissue—steals weapons and clothes, using a phone book to systematic hunt down every "Sarah Connor" in Los Angeles.

    Sarah Connor is an unsuspecting, ordinary young woman working as a diner waitress. After hearing news reports of two women with her exact name being murdered, she takes refuge in a crowded nightclub called Tech Noir.

    The Terminator tracks her to the club and draws a gun. Just as he takes aim, Kyle Reese intervenes, shouting the iconic line: "Come with me if you want to live!"

The Truth Revealed

Escaping the nightclub in a stolen car, Reese explains the terrifying reality to Sarah:

  • The cyborg hunting her is virtually indestructible, possessing synthetic skin over a steel endoskeleton.
  • In the near future, military computers will trigger a nuclear war.
  • Sarah is destined to give birth to John Connor, the savior of humankind.

The police arrest Reese and Sarah after a vehicular chase, believing Reese to be delusional. At the police station, criminal psychologist Dr. Silberman dismisses Reese's story as a complex paranoia.

    Soon after, the Terminator drives a car straight into the police station precinct—uttering his famous catchphrase, "I'll be back." The cyborg slaughters dozens of police officers in a relentless search for Sarah, but Reese escapes his cell and rescues her once more.

The Climax and Paradox

    Fleeing to a remote motel, Sarah and Kyle prepare pipe bombs and explosives. As they bond over the terrifying ordeal, Kyle confesses that he has been in love with Sarah ever since John Connor gave him a photograph of her in the future. They spend a passionate night together—unknowingly conceiving John Connor, completing a causal time-loop paradox.

    The Terminator tracks them down using Sarah’s location, sparking a high-speed chase on a highway. Kyle throws pipe bombs at the cyborg, who is riding a motorcycle. The Terminator gets run over by a semi-truck, but gets in and tries to run down Sarah and Kyle. Kyle manages to shove a pipe bomb into the truck's fuel tank, blowing it up in a massive fireball.

The Metal Endoskeleton

    As Sarah and Kyle embrace, believing the machine destroyed, the Terminator's flesh burns away, revealing its bare chrome endoskeleton. The relentless machine limps after them into an automated factory.

Inside the factory, Kyle ignites his final pipe bomb, jamming it into the Terminator's ribs. The explosion kills Kyle and blows the Terminator into pieces, while severely injuring Sarah's leg.

    However, the top half of the Terminator reactivates, crawling after a wounded Sarah. Leading the machine under a heavy hydraulic press, Sarah activates the machine, crushing the cyborg with the words: "You're terminated, fucker."

Epilogue

    Months later, a pregnant Sarah Connor drives through the desert in Mexico, recording audio tapes for her unborn son, John. She reflects on the temporal paradox—realizing that Kyle Reese is John's father and that she must prepare John for the inevitable future war.

    A young Mexican boy takes a instant Polaroid picture of her—the exact photograph that John will eventually give to Kyle in 2029. As a storm brews on the horizon, Sarah drives off into the unknown future.

 Note:-    

I had myself watched this movie featuring Arnold as Terminator.  It is must watch for all.

Lesson to Learn:-  No enemy is big enough -if you are determined enough.
