Summary of Pride and
Prejudice
The novel follows Elizabeth
Bennet, a sharp-witted and independent young woman, as she navigates love,
social expectations, and personal growth in early 19th-century England. When
the wealthy and aloof Mr. Darcy enters her life, Elizabeth initially finds him
arrogant and dismissive. Meanwhile, her family—particularly her mother—eagerly
seeks to marry off Elizabeth and her four sisters to secure their financial
future.
Elizabeth’s prejudice against
Darcy and his prideful nature create misunderstandings and conflicts between
them. However, as events unfold, including a scandal involving Elizabeth’s
younger sister and the revelations of Darcy’s true character, Elizabeth
realizes her misjudgements. In the end, love and self-awareness triumph,
leading to a heartfelt reconciliation between Elizabeth and Darcy.
